Here we go!
January 3rd 2009
Its hard to be original or inventive when you have no idea what you are doing! Thats the situation I find myself in as I write this blog for the very first time, but everything has a beginning and at the risk of sounding lame “a journey of 1000 miles begins with the first step”……… Well here is the first step.
I like the idea of blogging and keeping people upto date with whats happening, everyones lives are so busy that sometimes its not possible to kep everyone informed. So what is Joe Blogs well its the ramblings of an ordinary joe a small business owner who wants to have his say. What will it be about well who knows really certainly there will be alot of small business related posts, posts about chorley cakes and pies because we make them, we sell them, we eat them and frankly we love them.
So its the start of a brand new year only 3 days on the clock what will it have in store for Halls of Chorley and what will it have in store for me. Halls will be looking to expand this year we are currently looking for aquisitions in the food sector ok the economy is a bit iffy but out there, there will always be opportunities and we intend to take some this year after a great year last year. Watch out for new sales initiatives to boost Halls sales and our presence in the Chorley area we will continue to make the wonderful Chorley Cake which will be very much part of my diet as we go through 2009. This remarkable “medieval energy bar” will be sustaining me through a serious of physical challenges including the Mazda London Triathlon and The Vatternrundan (the worlds largest cycle race 18000 competitors this year). We will of course continue to make the pies that we are so famous for still using my grandfathers recipes from his little red book especially the “Butter Pie” our second best seller and the most talked about pie ever so many people ask about the Butter Pie whats in it? Why do you make it? What are its origins? All these important questions will be answered as we go through the year. We will also be promoting our Catering Service for Businesses and for individulas alike after a fantastic year for outside catering in 2008 we intend to really push this element of our business in 2009 and beyond.
Is this enough for an opening post? if it isnt then i am certain ill find out soon enough, finally to all my staff I hope you have a wonderful New Year and thanks for the hard work last year, see you at the wprks party 17th January, to everyone else have a great New Year. This blog will get more interesting and adventurous I promise.
